Short answers

What to know before you book.

Open only the question you need. These guides support a booking decision without trying to diagnose the cause of a symptom.

When should I postpone?
  • Fever, flu-like symptoms or a contagious illness.
  • An acute injury, unexplained severe pain or an area that is hot, red or significantly swollen.
  • An open wound, burn, active skin infection or healing surgical site in the treatment area.
  • When a health professional has advised you to avoid massage.
What needs a conversation or medical clearance?

Tell KiWest about pregnancy, recent surgery, cancer care, osteoporosis, bleeding disorders, blood-thinning medicine, previous blood clots, reduced sensation, significant varicose veins, fractures or other medical conditions. A therapist may ask you to obtain medical advice before booking.

Which symptoms need urgent medical help?

Seek urgent care for sudden breathlessness, chest pain, coughing blood, new one-sided leg swelling with pain or warmth, loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness around the genitals or bottom, or rapidly worsening weakness. Do not use massage to delay medical assessment.

Safety comes before the appointment.

The final decision depends on your current symptoms, health history, the proposed pressure and the body area. If you are uncertain, contact KiWest before booking and speak with a qualified health professional when appropriate. Massage is a spa service, not medical diagnosis or treatment. Tell the therapist about injuries, health conditions, medicines, pregnancy, recent surgery and any area that should be avoided. Read the full massage safety guide.
