What to expect at your first massage
A practical first-visit guide for massage clients who want to understand privacy, draping, pressure, arrival, and what happens in the treatment room.
Your first massage should feel clear and comfortable before it feels relaxing. This guide explains what happens at KiWest Spa so you know how to prepare, what to say, and how your therapist protects your privacy throughout the appointment.
KiWest Spa is a day spa in Belleville, St. Michael, Barbados, near Bridgetown. Address: Unit #2 2nd Avenue, Belleville, Bridgetown, Saint Michael BB14146. Phone and WhatsApp: (246) 249-2718.
Before the massage
You will be shown where to prepare and can share any comfort notes, focus areas, injuries, or pressure preferences. If you are unsure what to choose, relaxation massage is usually the easiest first option.
During the massage
Only the area being worked on is uncovered. The rest of the body remains draped. You can speak up if you want different pressure, a different focus area, quieter room conditions, or a pause.
After the massage
Take a moment before getting up. Drink water, notice how your shoulders, back, and legs feel, and ask which massage type may suit your next visit.
Do I have to undress completely?
No. Undress only to your comfort level. Many clients keep underwear on, and your therapist will work around your comfort and privacy.
Will I be covered during the massage?
Yes. Professional draping is used throughout the treatment. Only the area being massaged is uncovered.
Should I talk during my massage?
You do not need to chat, but you should speak up about pressure, temperature, pain, or comfort. Clear feedback helps the treatment fit you.
