A Hollywood wax is the most thorough intimate waxing service we offer at KiWest Spa - complete hair removal from the front pubic area through the labia, the perineum, and between the butt cheeks. Where a Brazilian wax typically leaves a small landing strip or triangle on top, a Hollywood leaves nothing. Totally bare. Smooth as glass. The cleanest, longest-lasting result of any wax in our menu.
Our salon is in Belleville, Bridgetown - a few minutes from the city centre and an easy drive from Hastings, Worthing, Holetown, and the cruise port. For intimate areas we use premium European hard wax, hypoallergenic and formulated for the Caribbean climate; for larger areas we use soft wax where it's the better fit. Both are applied by therapists who have done thousands of waxes. If you've been waxing for years and want the smoothest possible result, or you're considering your first Hollywood and want it done right, this page covers everything you need to know.
Hollywood Wax
What exactly is a Hollywood wax?
The Hollywood is sometimes called a "full Brazilian", "everything off", or simply "the works". The defining feature is completeness - not a strand of hair is left behind. Specifically, a Hollywood wax at KiWest covers:
- The full pubic mound (front)
- The labia, both inside and outer
- The perineum
- Between the butt cheeks
- Any hair on the upper inner thigh that crosses the bikini line
The result is a fully bare finish that stays smooth for 3 to 6 weeks. Many clients also like the extra sense of cleanliness, especially in Barbados' heat and humidity, and the freedom to wear any swimsuit, lingerie, or active-wear without a second thought.
Hollywood wax vs Brazilian, French bikini, and bikini wax
Walk into any spa in Barbados and you'll see four standard intimate-waxing options. Here's the simple breakdown:
| Service | What's removed | Best for | Price (BBD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bikini wax | Only what shows in a swimsuit - the bikini line and a little outside | Quick beach-day cleanup; first-timers | $65 |
| French bikini | Bikini line + labia, but a triangle or strip stays on top | Middle-ground option; still feels groomed but not bare | $80 |
| Brazilian wax | Front to back removed; small strip or triangle optional | Most-popular intimate wax; flexible style | $100 |
| Hollywood wax | Everything - front, back, labia, perineum. Nothing left. | Maximum smoothness; brides; regular waxers | $100 |
Prices and durations may vary slightly during promotional periods. Confirm at booking on Fresha or by WhatsApp.
Who chooses a Hollywood wax?
Three groups make up most of our Hollywood bookings:
Regular waxers who've graduated from Brazilian
If you've been getting Brazilian waxes for a year or more, you've probably noticed the regrowth on the strip arrives sooner than the rest. Hollywood removes that variable entirely - everything grows back at the same rate, so the in-between period feels evenly smooth, not patchy.
Brides & honeymooners
Hollywood is the most-requested intimate wax in our bridal waxing bookings. The reasoning: a single perfectly-timed appointment 5–7 days before the wedding gives you complete confidence under the dress, on the beach in St. James, and on the honeymoon - without any awkward in-between regrowth.
Beach & pool regulars
If you're at Crane, Bottom Bay, Carlisle, or Mullins more weekends than not, or you're a regular at hotel pools through Christ Church and St. James, the Hollywood is the no-thinking option. Tiny swimwear, white linen, sarongs - everything works without a second glance.
We also see a steady stream of clients during Crop Over season - costumes are revealing and any stray hair shows in photos that live online for years. A Hollywood wax 3–5 days before Kadooment (so any temporary redness has fully settled) is the ideal timing.
Why a Hollywood wax at KiWest specifically
The right wax for the area
For intimate waxing we use premium hard wax - the same kind used in luxury European spas. It hardens around the hair shaft and is then peeled off without strips. Hard wax grips the hair rather than the skin, which means significantly less pulling, less redness, and far less discomfort on sensitive areas like the labia and perineum. For larger areas (legs, arms, back) we'll often use soft wax instead, where it's faster and just as effective - your therapist chooses what suits your skin, hair, and the area being treated.
Trained for all skin types and tones
Melanin-rich skin can be more prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation if waxed too aggressively or pre-care isn't followed. Our therapists are specifically trained for this - correct wax temperature, single-direction removal, supportive skin pressure, and finishing oils that calm the skin straight after. We've waxed thousands of clients across all skin types and tones and the technique shows in the result.
Climate-formulated wax
Generic waxes designed for European salons can struggle with humidity. We use a hard wax formulated to set reliably in tropical conditions, so you get a clean pull every time without re-application or stickiness.
Strict hygiene - non-negotiable
Single-use wooden applicators, never double-dipped. Fresh gloves between every client. Treatment beds wiped and re-paper-lined for each appointment. Sterile tools. It sounds basic; in intimate waxing it's the entire foundation of trust.
Privacy & pace
Treatment rooms are private and quiet. We don't rush appointments - you'll have time to undress, drape, get comfortable, and ask any questions before we start. First Hollywood? We'll talk you through every step before it happens.
Your first Hollywood wax: what actually happens
Before your appointment (the day before)
- Hair length: ideally 1/4 inch (about 6mm) - longer than a stubble, shorter than full growth. If it's much longer we'll trim.
- Exfoliate gently 24 hours before - this lifts dead skin so hair can be removed cleanly. Skip exfoliating same-day.
- Avoid sun, swimming, and sweating heavily the day of your appointment.
- Hydrate and avoid caffeine right before - a calmer nervous system means less perceived discomfort.
- Loose-fitting clothes for the journey home are a kindness to yourself.
During the appointment
A Hollywood wax at KiWest takes 15 to 20 minutes start to finish. After a quick consult, you'll be left to undress from the waist down and lie on the treatment bed under a privacy drape. Your therapist will:
- Cleanse the area and apply a thin layer of pre-wax oil to protect the skin
- Test wax temperature on the inner thigh
- Apply hard wax in small sections, allowing each to cool
- Remove each section in the direction opposite to hair growth, supporting the skin
- Adjust your position as needed for the perineum and between-cheek areas
- Tweezer any final stray hairs by hand for a flawless finish
- Apply a soothing post-wax serum to calm the skin and close the pores
How it feels - honestly
The first 10 seconds of any wax are the most intense; your body acclimates after that. Most clients describe the sensation as a sharp pinch that fades immediately. The labia is the most sensitive zone and feels the most pull; the perineum is surprisingly mild. By session three or four, most regular clients say it's a fraction of what they remembered from the first time - the hair has thinned, the skin has adjusted, and the technique is familiar.
Aftercare: the 48 hours that protect your result
What you do after your wax matters as much as the wax itself. For 24 to 48 hours, please avoid:
- Hot showers, saunas, and hot tubs - lukewarm only
- The sea, swimming pools, and chlorinated water
- Sweat-heavy exercise (gym, running, hot yoga)
- Sunbeds, sunbathing, and direct heat
- Tight clothing or restrictive underwear - cotton, loose-fitting
- Intimate activity
- Self-tan, perfumed body lotions, exfoliating scrubs
From day three onwards, gentle exfoliation 2–3 times a week is essential to prevent ingrown hairs. A fragrance-free body lotion daily keeps the skin soft. If you tend to get ingrowns, ask us about KiWest-recommended ingrown serums - we sell what works.
Booking timing tip. For weddings, special occasions, or photoshoots, book 3 to 5 days before the event - not the day of. Any temporary redness or sensitivity will have fully resolved, and the skin will look its absolute best for photos and the event itself.
How often should you book?
For best results, every 4 weeks is the sweet spot during the first 6 months. After that, you can often stretch to 5 or 6 weeks as the hair becomes finer and growth slower. Skipping months and letting the hair grow long again resets the cycle, so consistency matters most in the first half-year.
Many of our regulars book six appointments at once at the start of a new year - one every four weeks - and adjust as they go. It locks in your slot with your favourite therapist and makes year-round smoothness automatic.
Common questions
Is it really better than shaving?
Yes - and not by a small margin. Shaving cuts the hair at skin level, leaving a stubble that returns within 24 to 48 hours and frequently causes razor bumps, ingrown hairs, and dark spots from constant friction. Waxing pulls the hair from the root, so regrowth takes weeks and the new hair grows back finer over time.
Will I have any redness or bumps after?
Some redness is normal for 1–3 hours; small whiteheads (folliculitis) for 24–48 hours can appear, especially on first sessions. Both settle on their own. If you're prone to either, a fragrance-free witch hazel toner the evening of your wax helps enormously.
What about the perineum and between the cheeks?
Both areas are included in a Hollywood and are typically much less sensitive than the labia. Your therapist will guide you into a comfortable position so the work is quick and discreet. Many clients say this part feels almost effortless compared to the front.
Can men book a Hollywood?
For men we offer the Manzilian - the male equivalent, full intimate waxing front to back. Same techniques, same hard wax, same standards.
What if I'm anxious about my first one?
Tell your therapist when you arrive. We adjust the pace, talk you through every section before it happens, and check in throughout. There's no judgement and no rush. Most first-timers say the anticipation was worse than the actual wax.
Hollywood waxing across Barbados
We see clients regularly from across the island. From the south coast (Hastings, Worthing, St. Lawrence Gap, Oistins, Maxwell), the west coast (Holetown, Sandy Lane, Speightstown), and right across St. Michael - you're typically 30 minutes or less from us. Tourists staying at Sandals, Royal Westmoreland, Hilton, and the cruise port also book in regularly during their stay; we keep slots open for short-notice tourist appointments most weekdays.
What to look for in a Hollywood waxing salon
- Hard wax for intimate areas, not strip wax
- Single-use applicators - no double-dipping ever
- Therapists trained to work safely with all skin types and tones
- Private, quiet treatment rooms
- Strong reviews specifically mentioning intimate waxing
- Transparent pricing - you should know the price before you book
If a salon hesitates on any of those, choose another one. Intimate waxing is the area where shortcuts show up fastest.
